Behar recounts the histories of Seattle's three Sephardic cemeteries: Ezra Bessaroth, Sephardic Bikur Holim, and Ahavath Achim. The cemeteries are discussed in the context of the histories of the Sephardic congregations, so the founding of Ezra Bessaroth, the changes in Ahavat Achim, the formation of the Sephardic Brotherhood, and the failed attempt to unify the Sephardic synagogues are also mentioned. He describes the ceremony of burning the Genizah (old and unusable religious objects), as led by his father, David Behar, and also discusses his father's leadership in the Sephardic community.
